7 Letter Words

7 letter words for Scrabble and Words with Friends

Learning and memorizing 7-letter words is of great importance in games such as Scrabble and Words with Friends. Seven is the total number of letter tiles players have in their racks. Using all of the tiles in one single play means Bingo! In Scrabble, Bingo grants players extra 50 points on top of the score of the word used, while in Words with Friends the bonus is 35 points.

Even when Bingo is not possible, knowing words with 7 letters can still prove useful, especially those that end in D or Y, which are normally featured heavily on any board. Players can then create a 6-letter word and complement it with one of these endings to reach the 7th letter and earn more points than those they would receive with their original word.

Common 7-letter words

Learning new obscure words with this number of letters is always a good strategy to surprise your opponents in a game of Scrabble or Words with Friends and get a good amount of points in the process.

If you do not have time to study, however, there is nothing to worry about. 7-letter words are present everywhere in our daily lives, even if we do not realize it. You just need to start paying attention to your surroundings. It might even be easier to recall these words during a game if you divide them by categories.

For instance, SPINACH, LETTUCE, SEAWEED, LENTILS, PARSLEY, CABBAGE, RHUBARB, PUMPKIN, PEPPERS, and SOYBEAN are only a few examples of 7-letter vegetables and legumes that you are surely familiar with.

Or think about vocabulary related to a hospital. You have SURGERY, PATIENT, ILLNESS. DISEASE, BANDAGE, or SYRINGE.

The family also works - TODDLER, BROTHER, SIBLING, HUSBAND, STEPSON, and PARENTS.

What are the highest-scoring 7-letter words?

As per usual, the highest-scoring words are those that employ the Z tile plus the two white tiles to fill in for extra Z.

Therefore, the 7-letter word that yields more points is PIZAZZY (39). If luck is not on your side and you can get your hands on the only Z tile or any of the two white tiles, your next best chance is JUKEBOX and SKYJACK (both with 27 points), followed by KICKBOX (26) and ASPHYXY and QUICKLY with 25 points.

What are the lowest-scoring 7-letter words?

The lowest score you can get with a word with seven letters is… seven.

There are no letters worth zero points, the lowest value is 1. If all seven letters are worth one point, then you would get seven points out of it.
